We’ve used Timberdoodle kits for Tiny Tots, Preschool, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 2nd Grade. I love that they offer pre-selected kits in Basic, Complete, and Elite levels with religious (classic) and non-religious options, but my favorite of all is the “Custom Kit” approach.
When you make a custom kit, you have the ability to swap out any curriculum that isn’t a good fit for your family and make it just right for you. This has been a huge blessing for our family!

Language Arts
For language arts, we are continuing the Happy Cheetah Reading System that we got in the 2nd grade kit last year. We aren’t ready to start an official literature program yet, but the standard 3rd-grade kit has great options for those who are.
Math
Last year we completed two levels of Math-U-See (Alpha and Beta) so we are officially caught up to grade level with Gamma this year! Woohoo! We love the simplicity of watching the DVD lesson and doing a worksheet each day to master the new skills.
Thinking Skills
If you’ve ever been intrigued with the idea of “game schooling”, here’s your chance to try it out! Thinking skills games are incredibly educational and help kids to learn while having fun.
History
We also went through two volumes of Story of the World last year, so we are back on track with volume 3, Early Modern Times. We will be listening to the MP3 version while looking at the maps in the textbook and doing geography puzzles!
Geography
We are big fans of Skills Sharpeners Geography for hands-on learning, critical thinking, and map skills. My daughter is also very excited to put together the 3D globe puzzle!
Science
This year I’ll be teaching science at our local co-op, so I chose not to get the science curriculum in the kit, except for the Dr. Bonyfide book, which fits perfectly with the Human Body class I’ll be teaching!
STEM
My daughter has been begging for a marble run for years, so when she unboxed GraviTrax Academy, she was beyond ecstatic! She immediately had to open it and start building. I can see these STEM challenges being used for years to come!
Art
Well-rounded art that includes drawing, art history, painting and so much more! I’m always impressed with the quality of the art kits and they are hits with my art-loving kiddo.

Emotional Intelligence
New to elementary kits this year is emotional intelligence! I’m very excited to go through this Social Skills Activities book because let’s face it–everyone could use some extra practice in this area!
Handbook + Learning Tools
Every Timberdoodle kit comes with a beautiful handbook tool for you with information about the curriculum components, sample schedules, a reading challenge, and helpful articles about homeschooling. 3rd graders will also love that there are fun learning tools like sensory fidgets and colored pencils! We customized our kit to swap out the NeeDoh Ice Cube for a Gummy Bear.
